Virtual commissioning

The commissioning (IBN) of a system can account for up to 25% of the total lead time of a project. Over 70% of the time required for the IBN is taken up in programming all of the software (VDW 1997). Particularly with plants that are being integrated into existing production systems, commissioning can be shortened if programming work starts during the construction phase. A suitable tool for this purpose is virtual commissioning (VIBN) as part of methodological engineering.

Methodological engineering

  • Creation of simulation models, simulating robotic systems
  • Virtual machines including development and construction of machine and system models
  • Virtual commissioning of the machine software in its original form and using real-time processes
  • Automated generation of project software and of the virtual machine
